Acne scar healing methods
Acne consists of a range of skin blemishes that include whiteheads, blackheads, and pustules. The blemishes can result in acne scars when the skin infection is severe or extends over a large area leading to poor healing. This skin condition is usually found in adolescents who may experience a little acne before their thirteenth year while some people can suffer from acne beyond their twentieth birthday.
There are a variety of therapies used to heal acne scars. They range from methods that can be used at home and those that required a consultation with a skin doctor or dermatologist. There is no clinical reason to undergo an acne scar healing treatment, as they represent no underlying physical health risk to the individual, the real reasons to do so are based on improving the aesthetic appearance of the skin. The psychological issues surrounding acne scar healing can vary from individual to individual, but appearance can be very important, and the presence of acne scars on the face can be particularly debilitating. Clearly acne scar healing is important to some people.
Fillers
One of the safer and more frequently used methods of acne scar healing; filling options consist of collagen or fat based products that are used to fill the scar left by acne. These fillers are a temporary method of reducing acne scars by injecting collagen or fat into the effected area. The injected substance can be absorbed by the body in as little as six weeks making the scar visible again. Further injections can be safely made once the previous injection has lost its effect.
Dermabrasion and chemical peels
Dermabrasion and chemical peels remove the top layer of skin to reveal new skin that has less scarring. Both methods can be relatively expensive and, as you would expect, they thin the skin which can wreak havoc on skin that is sensitive. Dermabrasion and microdermabrasion scrub away the topmost layer of skin to reduce the appearance of acne scars. Chemical peel treatments use harsh chemicals that are applied to the skin to erode the top skin layer; again revealing the new skin beneath.
Laser
Clinics charge in the region of $2,500 for laser resurfacing depending upon the clinic used and the extent of the work to be completed. Scar healing is achieved by removing the acne damaged top layer of skin by laser which also heats the adjacent skin where it promotes new skin formation to reduce the scars appearance.
